Welcome to the official homepage for Todd Durrant, author and pop musician. If you don't know who I am, let me give you a little introduction.
My entire career has been played out in the music business (see www.adifferentdrum.com), which is a record label and online music store I've run for nearly two decades. I still run that business and continue to be involved in songwriting, production, and now a pop-music school for kids. However, writing science fiction and fantasy is my other great love, and this website is the place where I will chase that dream. So, please feel welcome, and I'm glad you're here!

| My first complete novel is called TRIGGER and I finished the first draft in December of 2007. It was written as a personal challenge, just to see if I could do it. Well, I did it! And I really enjoyed writing it too! To read the first parts of the book, just click on "written works" on the side of this homepage. It’s the year 2075 and Droids have taken over the Earth forcing humans to flee the planet. Time jump to the year 2155 where humans are struggling to survive in space, but the human spirit endures. Conflicts arise, however, when some wish to reclaim what they feel is rightfully theirs… Planet Earth, while others believe they are better off making a permanent home in space.
Most Science Fiction or Fantasy comes down to good versus evil… a tried and true system that will never disappear.
Todd Durant adds to this, however, by shining a light on the human race, with all its good, bad and monstrous qualities, as a whole. Showing that sometimes even the best of us can fail, and with disastrous consequences. No single person is ever completely right or wrong.
Brilliantly written, this first time Author holds the attention of Sci-Fi and Non-Sci-Fi fans alike. At first, the jump between time can be a tad jarring; but, with each line you read the story develops into a cohesive journey, causing that sought after phrase, “I just couldn’t put it down until I’d read the final line!”
